Satsuma MD to take part in the 2014 ‘Bupa Great Manchester run’ to raise money for Alzheimer’s

Satsuma’s MD, Godwin Ohajah, is to take part in what’s been described as “Europe’s biggest 10k”, the Bupa Great Manchester Run.

The event will take place on Sunday 18th May 2014 and an estimated 40,000 people will be running to support a range of worthy causes and charities.

Ohajah said, “My mother has dementia and I’ll be raising money for the Alzheimer’s Society.”

The Great Manchester Run is considered the nation’s favourite 10K running event, popular among world class athletes and beginners alike. The course passes the iconic Old Trafford football stadium, and finishes right in the heart of this fantastic city.

He continues, “I missed it last year, but I was on the finishing line to watch the first runners come in. It was pretty impressive seeing world class athletes ‘do their thing’ close-up. The run itself is a great excuse to get fit. But it’s important to take time out from our busy work schedules and do something for others.”

He concludes, “I’ve set three challenges; 1) Raise £1000, 2) actually finish the race! and 3) do it in less than 50 minutes. Hopefully I’ll achieve all three, but if it’s just the first one I’ll be happy. Hopefully people will read this and sponsor me.”

The event will be shown live on the BBC. People are encouraged to give what they can and below is a suggestion as to how they might want to make donations:

  1. Actually start the race = £5 (this can be done today)
  2. Race finished in under 50 minutes = Another £5
  3. Race finish with a personal best time (under 47 minutes) = another £5, more if you can afford it
  4. Also, if he takes longer than 50 minutes, he will make a personal donation of at least £5 for each of the first 20 sponsors to sign-up (i.e. £100)
